Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga will continue as per usual after April 30; it is a community by donation class.
Laughter Yoga yoga is a unique exercise routine which combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing. It is the only technique that allows adults to achieve sustained hearty laughter without involving cognitive thought. This bypasses the intellectual systems that normally act as a break on natural laughter. It has been scientifically proved that 20 minutes of laughter is sufficient to develop full psychological benefits. It stimulates your energy, balances and clears your mind to make space for positivity. Laughter yoga empowers community, and it’s fun and contagious!
Anyone can do it; it’s easy to learn and lots of fun. You can feel the benefits right from the first session. No experience with yoga necessary.
Laughter Yoga is the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria (photo to the right), a Physician from Mumbai, India. He launched the first Laughter Club at a Park on March 13, 1995, with merely a handful of people. Today, it has become a worldwide phenomenon with more than 6000 Social Laughter Clubs in about 60 countries.
The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits. The best part of Laughter Yoga is you really don’t need any “reason” to laugh, and joining a Laughter Club makes it easy. It provides a platform which helps to break psychological barriers and shed all inhibitions. One can actually feel ‘fake’ laughter turn into ‘real’ and contagious laughter.
